Jump in. Get muddy. Give back and get set. Ignore the butterflies and go for it.
We meet on Wednesdays, from 18:30 to 20:00
Have fun, go on adventures, explore the world around you, be amazing
Scouts teaches 10½ to 14 year-olds how to stand on their own two feet and conquer the small task of changing the world
Our Scout Troop meets every Monday, and lets our Scouts take part in all sorts of activities that help them grow and push their horizons. Scouts is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, no matter whoever or wherever you are.
Scouts set big targets and, with help from our trained volunteers, achieve whatever they set their mind to. Start small, think big, build bridges, break down barriers, stand up for what you believe in, and make a difference. Sounds like fun? That's because it is. And all that's missing is you!

We work towards the Chief Scout's Gold award
Scouts complete their challenge awards to earn the top award for the section
Being a Scout is all about giving new things a go, and growing as a person, and from your very first day as a Scout, you'll be earning badges and awards, starting with your World Membership Badge, and going from there. You can work towards as many as you like, at your own pace, ant by the time you've left the Scout troop and moved on to an Explorer Scout Unit, you'll have badges all over your shirt!
Our main goal is to give each Scout the opportunity to earn the coveted Chief Scout's Gold Award - the top award for members of the Scout Troop - by helping them earn all six of their challenge awards and four activity badges. Any Scouts who are working towards their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award can also count much of this work towards their Chief Scout's Gold Award.
Earning challenge awards and activity badges
Challenge awards are designed to do exactly that - challenge you. They make you step outside of your comfort zone, try things you wouldn't usually be interested in, or take the lead on something that you think is a bit scary. Earning a challenge award is a huge achievement, and you'll need to complete a number of ambitious tasks - not just within your colony, but in the wider community.
We give our Scouts loads of support along the way, by creating and taking part in a wide range of events and activities that will help them earn activity badges as part of completing their challenges and, as they reach the end of their journey with Scouts, we'll give them a personal challenge to work on in the run up to completing their time in the troop.
Earning activity badges away from Scouts
We also recognise the progress and efforts our Scouts put in outside of their meetings, events and activities that we run, and many of the badges available to Scouts give our young members a platform to show off their progress in the things they do every day, encouraging them to try new things and form new interests.
You can look at all the activity badges available for Scouts to work towards on the Scouts website, and we also make use of the Online Scout Manager Badges at Home feature. Ask a leader for more information.
How old are Scouts?
We welcome all young people between 10½ and 14 years of ageScouts are usually young people aged between 10½ and 14 though, when it comes to age, we have some flexibility to extend that age range within the guidelines issued by Scouts. We can welcome young people from the age of 10 as long as they're ready to join us, and we’ll usually discuss this with you when you’re joining.
Similarly, when it comes to deciding on when to move on to an Explorer Scout Unit, we offer flexibility in choosing the right time to move on. For example, it will often make sense for friendship groups in Scouts to move up to Explorers together, so we can make allowances up to the age of 14½ for those that need it.
If your young person is below the age of 10½ then you may wish to consider joining Cubs, or add them to our New Member Waiting List for Scouts.
Join Scouts at 9th Warwick Emscote Scout Group
We welcome all young people between 10½ and 14 years of age
Joining Scouts with us is a great way to get your young person started on their Scouting journey. Our group has a fantastic track record of keeping young people interested - some of our Scouts started their journey with us as Beavers and have already moved on to Explorer Scout Units across the district.
Scouts is open to all, and we are usually able to tweak things to make sure that everyone is able to join in the fun. If you've got any questions about how we can make Scouts accessible to your young person, get in touch with us and we'll have a chat. Being upfront from the start gives us the advantage of being able to work together in partnership to ensure that your young person has the best possible experience in Scouts.
What you’ll need in order to join
All you need to do is register your details on our new members waiting list. As soon as your young person reaches the age to join Scouts, and we have a space in the troop, we'll get in touch and invite you and your young person to their first session.
You won't need a uniform to join Scouts, but once you've joined and settled in, you'll be earning all sorts of brilliant badges, so you'll need somewhere to put them. When your young person is nearly ready to make their Promise, we’ll let you know how to get your uniform.
Invest in your young person’s future with us
By joining Scouts, your young person becomes part of a worldwide movement, dedicated to helping them develop skills they can use in the real world, while having fun, adventure and making new friends. We’re so confident that your young person will love Scouts that their first session is free of charge. After this, a membership fee will become due.
Alternatively, if you’ve got any questions, if you’d like to arrange a visit, or if you’d like to speak with a member of the team before you make a decision, you can get in touch with us using any of the methods shown below:
