Thank Two this Founders’ Day

Nikki Saveker News

Every year, Founders’ day is an opportunity for everyone in Scouting to reflect on the people who make what we do possible.

There’s no denying that the last twelve months have been a bit rubbish by our normal standards, but it’s still given us all the opportunity to realise some of the things we qare thankful for.

This year, we’re asking everyone to thank two individuals or groups of people, and show your gratitude for the things they have done to keep Scouts going, or for being general heroes of our local community.

Thanks to our front-line and key workers

It’s hard to think where we’d be without the efforts of all the amazing people who are continuing to work incredibly hard, keeping us safe and well while maintaining essential services.

Many of our volunteers and parents are front-line and key workers, who have gone above and beyond during the course of the last twelve months while the vast majority of us have stayed at home, keeping safe. Our amazing volunteers have remained out in the community, doing essential work, keeping vital services running, educating our children, feeding us, keeping us safe and looking after us.

Thanks to our young people

The young people we serve, the people we all do this for, have shown incredible resilience over the past twelve months. It’s been an incredibly difficult time for most adults, and while many of us have needed to adapt quickly to differences in the way we live our lives, our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders have had to change their way of life in such a short space of time.

Our world has changed massively, but our young people will bounce back, stronger than they’ve ever been, and we’ll be there to support them as they do, but seeing our young people being amazing throughout the various lockdowns, watching the efforts they put in, and taking note of their achievements has been amazing.

Who are you thankful for?

By this time next year, I’m sure you’re looking forward to being thankful for a lot more, right now, I’d like you to think about two individuals or groups of people that you’re thankful to.

We’ve got some great resources available, and you can download these, print them out, and colour them in to show your appreciation by sticking them in your window.
