Could you be Warwick’s District Commissioner?

Nikki Saveker News

Warwick District is looking for a brilliant volunteer manager to take Scouting forward across the district.

Updated 23/12/2020: The position has now been filled, and we would like to congratulate Yvonne Paige-Stimson, Group Scout Leader at 1st Wellesbourne, on becoming our new District Commissioner.

Our District Commissioner, Stephen Lane, is stepping down from his role after spending fifteen years in various Scouting roles in the Warwick, and moving away from the area. Everyone in the district wishes him well as he starts the next chapter of his life, and we’ll all miss him.

Because of this, Warwick District Scout Council is looking for a new District Commissioner or Team District Commissioner. The role can be held by one person, or by a team of people who share the various aspects of the role.

Scouts is a hugely relevant and rewarding organisation to be part of, not just for our youth members, but also for the adults who help to make it all happen. You don’t need to already be part of Scouting, but you should have experience managing and motivating adults effectively, bringing energy to the enthusiastic and very helpful District Team to help everyone across all groups in the District make Scouting even more exciting and relevant for today’s young people.

As with every other role in Scouting, you don’t need to be Bear Grylls, and you don’t need to have previous experience in Scouting. You’ll be given all the support and training you need, with an experienced, knowledgable and highly committed District Team and backup from the County leadership team, working with a network of other District Commissioners around Warwickshire.

If you are comfortable in building relationships and networks with all parts of our diverse and engaging community here in Warwick and the wider county of Warwickshire, if you are looking for a new, rewarding and enriching challenge, and if you want to see young people develop and grow into role models in the community, then you can find out more about joining the District team and make an impression in our world of Scouting.

For an application form or if you would like to nominate someone you feel would be suitable for the role please get in touch with Laurence Aston, District Chairman, by email to laurence.aston@btinternet.com.
